Torn up pieces of paper; spray-painted stencil; even bubble-wrap — these are just some of the objects that have been used to create a mural going up at the Weston GO/Union Pearson Express (UPX) station on a 16-by-260 foot noise wall.
Artist Mahmood Popal wanted to prove that art doesn’t have to be intimidating nor expensive. It can be made using everyday materials. It simply takes a little ingenuity. Popal’s winning proposal was based on engaging community members of all ages.
“This is really their work,” Popal said while working on the outdoor mural along the Weston GO/UPX station’s parking lot facing Lawrence Avenue.
